Happy 4th of July

Image
Wow, I can't believe the almost half of the summer has gone, I've been so lazy about posting on my blog, I think I'd better set a goal to post at least once a week.  July is always a busy month for me with the 4th, my youngest sister's birthday on the 5th and my birthday the following week, the 23rd also would have been my dad's birthday. When we were kids, we'd celebrate all three birthdays with a summer vacation. Now, I just joke about taking more time off in July than in any other month, this year however, that's not really true. While I'm taking time off next week to head to Napa to celebrate my day, I took a week off in June to spend time in Las Vegas with friends. Today, I finally got to sit down and do some crafting, I made a couple of cards, one that I can show here, which was done for the contest this week on Crop Chocolate, and one that I will have to wait to show until after July 20th since it's for the Crop Chocolate focus group ...

Busy, Busy, Busy

That's just what it's been the past couple of weeks. Last weekend I was busy at a National Scrapbook Day (Weekend) crop at one of my favorite stores Scrapbook Paradise. Laura hosted a weekend of scrapbooking, giveaways and make & takes. I won a couple of things during the drawings, including some of the new Reminisce Travel line, beautiful paper. During the crop I worked on the challenges from Crop Chocolate/Oh My Crafts online crop and finished my Maui scrapbook. Here's what I came up with, for the Crop Chocolate/Oh My Crafts online crop. Something Old..... Remember twistel and big bulky metal embellishments? And all of those eyelets that you hoarded that are now collecting dust on your shelf?? Use your OLDEST scrapbook product to create a one of a kind project. I had a piece of paper that I bought when I first started scrapbooking a few years ago, I also used some MM celery ribbon, wedding jewels and glitter alphas. Something New..... We've all ...

Keeping Busy

I can't believe a month has gone by since I posted, in between a few days in Vegas for work, and catching a really rotten cold, I've gotten a couple of projects finished, although not everything I've wanted to accomplish is done. The big project that I finally got completed tonight is the lamp project. It's really an altered object project. I got an old brass lamp from a friend and decided I wanted to revamp it for use in my living room. So, here are the lamp pieces before...... Sorry this is sideways, for some reason blogger doesn't want to insert the picture correctly. This is the lamp base. These are pictures of the glass that goes on the spider arms of the lamp base. (Again, for some reason blogger doesn't want to insert the picture correctly). Now here's the finished product..... I spray painted the brass base of the lamp silver and used alcohol inks to color the pieces of the glass green and purple. The affect of the alcohol ink on the glas...

What a Week

What a week it has been. Between being sick and wildfires, I'm glad the week is done. Just wanted to remind everyone to pause and take a minute to remember the 29 families who lost their homes in this weeks wildfire in Reno. I can't believe that another huge fire destroyed so much land and so many homes almost 2 months to the day after the Caughlin Ranch fire. Reno just can't seem to get a break. Thank You to all of the firefighters and first responders who came to the rescue. While the fire stayed 8 - 10 miles from my home, I had friends and acquaintances who were much closer and either should have evacuated or were waiting to be told to evacuate, it was a very scary couple of days.  This weekend I've been relaxing and got a little time to create a couple of cards today. I needed birthday cards for a couple of friends who are celebrating on Thursday. This card is for a young lady who will turn 5 this week, she's celebrating at Disneyland right now, I'm so jea...

It's 2012!

Happy New Year! OK, I'm running a little late this year, typical. December was busy as usual, and while I did spend some time crafting, I also did the shopping and the baking, and all of those holiday tasks, including a couple of parties and a crafty day with friends. I had the week between Christmas and New Years off as the office was closed, so I finally got down to some heavy duty crafting after the house got cleaned. I worked on a bunch of cards for card swaps and for a couple of birthdays. Here's some of my favorites. These first four cards are from BG's Pyrus Card kit - I of course had to add some personal touches. This is a card I made for one of my friends who lost her Dad, just before Christmas. Since it's also my first Christmas since my Dad passed away, I thought she'd like to know that someone was thinking of her. Some Thank You cards that I sent to friends for my Christmas gifts. While I was making cards, I decided to make this fun one....
