Life throwing curve balls......Time for endings and beginnings.

Image
Wow, I can't believe how long it's been since I've updated my blog. With the curve ball I was thrown late last week, I've decided to dust off this blog and begin again. It's a time for new beginnings, new adventures are on the horizon. It's also a time for endings. Before anyone get's too worried, the curve ball is not life or death, not even health related, but life does have a way of making you pause for a few minutes to take stock. In light of that fact, I'm dusting off my blog and documenting my journey, hopefully this will also help me rediscover my creative path, which has been missing for most of 2015, so here goes. It has most definitely been a year of changes, the best news of all is that I became a great aunt in February. Synnovea (Snowy) was born to my niece Teresa on Feb 10th.  Isn't she adorable...... Here she is at 7.5 months She's growing up so fast. Soon she will be running around getting into all kinds of trouble.

Beginning Again...2015

So, it seems like a very long time since I've posted - and it has been over a year, so much has been going on. After moving back to Vegas, in December of 2013, it has taken me almost a year to get back into the swing of things. It's been a long time since I've had a roommate, and it is taking me a bit of time to get used to shared space. One of the hardest things is that I've lost my crafty area, so much of my stuff is still in storage (yes, even a year later). Slowly, it is making it's way from the storage units to the house, but I get frustrated at times when I can't find something that I know I have. This year I will be making more of an effort to be organized so I can find things a bit more easily. The first project for the new year actually started a couple of days ago and hopefully will finish up by the weekend. First let me preface, since I moved in with a friend, it is taking a lot of organization to bring two full households together - First step,

Spring Break

Image
So spring has sprung - or so they say, at least I'd like to hope that's true, but I live in Reno, and am sure to see a bit more cool weather before spring is here to stay. But, I'll enjoy having the windows open while I can. Tonight I'm going to cook out for the first time this season - I have a tri-tip marinating as we speak. Yum! While I've been busy the past few months, I've been suffering a bit of a creative block. I'm hoping that it is beginning to pass. Here's what I've come up with First of all, my recipe cards for the Crock Pot Recipe swap over at Crop Chocolate I used Sookwang tape, Microfine glitter (warm) from Elizabeth Crafts, a digital stamp and my Copic markers to create the crockpot.  Now, here is a sympathy/thinking of you card I created for a friend of mine who lost her dad recently The green is a shimmer sheet that I ran through my texture boutique machine with a Stampin Up embossing folder. Here are

January is almost Gone!

Image
Wow, January has just flown by, I've already blown one of my resolutions which was to keep my blog up-to-date and here I'm just making my first post of the year. Not Good. It's been colder than usual here in Reno, I guess the cold started around the holidays and just decided to stick around. I missed most of the snow, since I was in Las Vegas and Anaheim from Christmas Day until the 29th.  Here's what I was doing in Anaheim - California Adventure and Disneyland for a friend's birthday. We had to stop by Cars Land and Radiator Springs. I have gotten some crafting in since the holidays, but not much, I made a few cards at the Scrapbook Paradise customer appreciation crop. Check them out. Two birthday cards and 2 Thank You cards.   I also experimented with creating some shaving cream canvas' that I will be turning into a gift for a friend. I used the technique for creating shaving cream paper, but let the canvas boards sit in the mixture

Time for Giving Thanks

Image
Wow! Where has the year gone? This week is already Thanksgiving and I have so much to give thanks for. Working at the Food Drive for the Evelyn Mount Outreach here in town this week, I thought about how lucky I really am, while I don't have everything I want, I do have everything I ever need.  Many years ago, while making a cross-country move, I was homeless for a week - not just living in a hotel, with no job, but truly homeless, sleeping on the floor in a friend of mine's deserted home, with no electricity, no hot water or air conditioning (summer in Vegas) just my sleeping bag on the floor. For that I am thankful, because it made me realize that I have friends who while they could not spare much, could give me a safe place to sleep, friends who lent me their showers so I could be clean for my job. After a week I was able to afford to house myself again.....I hope that I never have to experience that again.  Now I have a nice roof over my head, a job, and plenty of f

Stinkin' Cute!

So I'll bet when you saw the title, you thought oh, she's talking about the fur babies, while they are stinkin' cute, I'm actually referring to the treat holders that I made today.  Now to fill them with the treats. So what do you think? These are for two of my favorite young ladies for halloween, I hope they enjoy them. I also made a card for a baby shower next weekend, the theme of the shower is..... you guessed it, Pirates...the inside of the cards says "to the newest member of the Kirby Crew" My last 2 creations were Xmas Cards to add to the growing pile, since I have to make a total of 40 or so, If I keep going at this rate, I might have enough by Valentine's Day.... These were actually inspired by a card sample I saw on Pinterest. So, it's been a busy weekend here in Reno, with the Nevada Day Parade on Saturday as well as attending a Pumpkin Walk last night. Unfortunately today I woke up with a sore throat, so

What a Week

Image
It's Sunday night and I'm thinking about what needs to be done this next week, and wondering where the past week went. Between work, the gym and a trip to Vegas it just flew by.  Last weekend was the Stitch Retreat in Las Vegas, which was fun as always, It's incredible the beautiful work these women do. I"m currently working on a Baby Announcement for a friend who had a beautiful little girl a couple of months ago. I'm about half-way through the project and will try and post a picture in the next couple of weeks.  Good news is, I've joined the gym and been consistent about going - three days/week, usually M - W, Thursdays and Fridays are way too busy. I'm enjoying myself while exercising and hoping to lose some weight in the process. Another trip to Vegas this week....I think I'm tired of flying back and forth, hopefully now I can stay home for a bit. 3 trips in 3 weeks is a bit much.  Today I finally got some time to work on the Crop C
