It’s been a busy couple of weeks here in Reno. I’ve been busy finishing up older projects and of course starting new things. I always seem to have too many projects going on.

First up in big news (OK, at least to me) is that Tanya (Tawn85) and I have started our sideline business
Diaper Cake Creations & More! by Tawn & Lisa

Our first commissioned cake was delivered last Saturday to a friend who requested a Red, White and Blue theme. The star clothes pins will be used to hold gift cards. She loved it.

We had done a previous diaper cake and banner for a friend’s baby shower and got so many compliments and comments that we decided to add one more thing to our busy schedules.

Note: the banner is reversible – to hang in baby’s room.

We’ll never be millionaires, but it’s challenging and fun.

I also finished up a cross-stitch piece that I was working on for a friend’s baby, now I just have to get it framed.

Last Saturday, was the monthly Crop-Around-the-Clock at Scrapbook Paradise, our LSS, and while most of my morning was spent creating the Red, White and Blue cake topper, I was able to get a couple of other things done, including my layouts for KuKu’s - March of Dimes and Autism Speaks Auction Scrapbooks.

This first layout is for the March of Dimes scrapbook. I volunteered to do the May pages. The paper is from LYB’s Elizabeth Park line. I’m so in love with this line right now.  I wasn’t sure when I picked it up how I would use it, but now I want more.

This next layout is for the Autism Speaks – Boy 8x8 scrapbook. It’s tough for me to do boy pages, I think I need more practice.  DCWV and MME Lil' Robots provided the backdrop for these pages.

This is for the Autism Speaks – Girl 8x8 scrapbook. I decided to keep it simple, going with DCWV Citrus Splash for these pages.

I also got the chance to finish the day up with a few cards, most importantly my sister’s birthday card. Echo Park Summer Days and some Stickles make a bright, happy way to celebrate her upcoming (43rd) birthday.

I did a few “Thinking of You” cards to round out the day, I kept them very simple.

Make sure to visit *LyndiLou*’s blog, the next one on the hop and leave her a message too.  Glad you stopped by today.

Finally Summer!

Wow, I can't believe the weather is finally nice. It seems like we had no spring in Reno this year, we went from rainy wet, yucky weather last weekend to beautiful warm, open window weather this past week and weekend. I'm loving it.

Unfortunately, the rain last Sunday caused the newly repaired ceiling in my kitchen to leak again (the roofers never fixed the roof like they said), so I'll need to take another day off when the roof is finally repaired to have the kitchen ceiling an wall re-textured and re-painted, such fun.

Yesterday was a great day, I went to the Sacramento Zoo with a group of friends. It was a wonderful, warm day and we had a good time. For me, the best part (aside from being with friends) was the new giraffe encounter. While I didn't feed the giraffe's myself, I did take pictures of my friends daughter feeding the giraffe. It is so amazing to be so close to the animals.

This is Valentine - one of the giraffes.

Today, I've been busy with all of the chores that didn't get done while I was out of town yesterday. I also needed to get a Father's Day card made for my Dad. Here it is, very simple, but I kind of like it.

The sadness for me, is my Dad, who has Alzheimer's, will not realize it's Father's Day, or that I'm his daughter. But, I'll know.

Started planning the rest of the summer this weekend. Friends coming to visit in July, and then I may go to Portland, Oregon for a long weekend in August. Something new to be excited about.

Thinking I may go sit by the pool with a book for an hour or so, as the weather is so gorgeous.

Remember, when you dream, dream big as the ocean blue. When you dream it might come true.......

Have a great week.
