What a Week

Image
What a week it has been. Between being sick and wildfires, I'm glad the week is done. Just wanted to remind everyone to pause and take a minute to remember the 29 families who lost their homes in this weeks wildfire in Reno. I can't believe that another huge fire destroyed so much land and so many homes almost 2 months to the day after the Caughlin Ranch fire. Reno just can't seem to get a break. Thank You to all of the firefighters and first responders who came to the rescue. While the fire stayed 8 - 10 miles from my home, I had friends and acquaintances who were much closer and either should have evacuated or were waiting to be told to evacuate, it was a very scary couple of days.  This weekend I've been relaxing and got a little time to create a couple of cards today. I needed birthday cards for a couple of friends who are celebrating on Thursday. This card is for a young lady who will turn 5 this week, she's celebrating at Disneyland right now, I'm so jea...

It's 2012!

Happy New Year! OK, I'm running a little late this year, typical. December was busy as usual, and while I did spend some time crafting, I also did the shopping and the baking, and all of those holiday tasks, including a couple of parties and a crafty day with friends. I had the week between Christmas and New Years off as the office was closed, so I finally got down to some heavy duty crafting after the house got cleaned. I worked on a bunch of cards for card swaps and for a couple of birthdays. Here's some of my favorites. These first four cards are from BG's Pyrus Card kit - I of course had to add some personal touches. This is a card I made for one of my friends who lost her Dad, just before Christmas. Since it's also my first Christmas since my Dad passed away, I thought she'd like to know that someone was thinking of her. Some Thank You cards that I sent to friends for my Christmas gifts. While I was making cards, I decided to make this fun one....

Thanksgiving......

Thanksgiving has come and gone, and I have been remiss in posting to my blog. Time has just gotten away from me for the past couple of months, but now I'm back (I hope). I've been busy in the craft room the past few weeks with Thanksgiving and holiday projects.  My first project was for the Crop Chocolate November Focus Group Challenge ----- I'm Thankful For... Here's my entry, Counting my Blessings instead of Sheep (from White Christmas) A few of the things I'm thankful for, my family, my friends (old and new), my fur kids, and the ability to travel to beautiful places (Hawaii is one of my favorite spots). A close up of one of the sheep Last weekend I spent Sunday crafting with friends at a home crop, I made some cute turkeys I love the colored googly eyes. I gave the pink-eyed turkey to Miss Alyssa, she's my favorite 3 year old. Thanksgiving was very low-key for me, I basically stayed home and had a fantastic turkey dinner. Friday and Saturday I atte...

Where did October go??????

Image
I just looked up and tomorrow is Halloween, the last day of October, where did this month go?  I've been busy, I just don't know that anything got accomplished. What do you get when you put 50 women together in a room scrapbooking for 3 days.... a ton of fun, that's what my first trip to Camp Scrapbook Paradise entailed. Located an hour or so north of Reno, near Portola, CA is Grizzly Creek Ranch, which was the site for the weekend. Thursday night after unpacking all of the scrapbook supplies, we started in on a weekend of crafting. I got all 40 of my Christmas Cards completed between Thursday night and Friday. I'm ahead of the game so far, usually I start creating the cards on Thanksgiving weekend. This was the prototype for the cards. I'm glad to have them completed. Now I just need to come up with a smaller card idea for the cards for my friends at work. Saturday I got to work on some of my Christmas gifts First I decided to do bookmarks with holders, I la...
