January is almost Gone!

Wow, January has just flown by, I've already blown one of my resolutions which was to keep my blog up-to-date and here I'm just making my first post of the year. Not Good.

It's been colder than usual here in Reno, I guess the cold started around the holidays and just decided to stick around. I missed most of the snow, since I was in Las Vegas and Anaheim from Christmas Day until the 29th. 

Here's what I was doing in Anaheim - California Adventure and Disneyland for a friend's birthday. We had to stop by Cars Land and Radiator Springs.

I have gotten some crafting in since the holidays, but not much, I made a few cards at the Scrapbook Paradise customer appreciation crop. Check them out.

 I also experimented with creating some shaving cream canvas' that I will be turning into a gift for a friend. I used the technique for creating shaving cream paper, but let the canvas boards sit in the mixture for a bit longer.  Here are the step-by-step instructions

Step 1 - Gather your supplies

I used the following

Shaving Cream - Foam, not Gel

Alcohol Ink - Stonewashed, Meadow and Purple Twilight

4 Canvas Boards

Something to mix the ink - I used a Kabob stick

Paper plate

Knife or squeege

Paper Towels

 

Put Shaving Cream on the paper plate spread to 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick

Place drops of Alcohol Ink on the Shaving Cream and use your stick to mix to desired results

Place the canvas board face down in the shaving cream/ink mixture - press down to ensure maximum coverage

Let the board sit in the ink mixture for approx 4-5 minutes

Remove board from ink mixture and clean off the excess shaving cream with a squeege or in my case the flat edge of a butter knife.

Use a paper tower to clean the edges and blot the ink if you desire

Let dry for a couple of hours.

This is my dyed canvas ready for decoration - the one in the upper right corner I blotted a bit too much, so the colors are very muddled. I'll post a picture when I actually have them decorated.

Yesterday, I took a Coloring with Copic's class at my LSS, the project we were working on was this little girl with a heart. My first attempt at shading, and I don't think it turned out too bad. I made it into a card for one of my best friends, who is in the hospital right now and not doing too well.

I added some stickle to the heart to give it some bling. 

Right now, I'm really worried about my friend, Cindy who is in the hospital and not doing so well. Unfortunately, she's in Vegas and I can't get there right now. Please, if you get a minute remember her in your thoughts and prayers.
