Happy 4th of July

Wow, I can't believe the almost half of the summer has gone, I've been so lazy about posting on my blog, I think I'd better set a goal to post at least once a week.

July is always a busy month for me with the 4th, my youngest sister's birthday on the 5th and my birthday the following week, the 23rd also would have been my dad's birthday. When we were kids, we'd celebrate all three birthdays with a summer vacation. Now, I just joke about taking more time off in July than in any other month, this year however, that's not really true. While I'm taking time off next week to head to Napa to celebrate my day, I took a week off in June to spend time in Las Vegas with friends.

Today, I finally got to sit down and do some crafting, I made a couple of cards, one that I can show here, which was done for the contest this week on Crop Chocolate, and one that I will have to wait to show until after July 20th since it's for the Crop Chocolate focus group July challenge.

Here is today's creation - Recipe, use a dark background, 3 patterned papers and ribbon.

I used Echo Park's Paradise Beach paper and tried something different with the ribbon to create the sun. The saying was one that I had in my stash.

At the crop at Scrapbook Paradise a couple of weekends ago, I was able to create some Thank You cards for the donations that I received for the "Walk for Animals" that I participated in on June 2nd, as well as for my cat sitter. The cat's are supposed to resemble my 3 (Tom, Pippi and Luna).

I also made a birthday card for my youngest sister (who's celebrating tomorrow),

I had to play up the 4th of July theme of course.

I also made a card for my 'twin' sister (from another mother) who is three years younger than I am. Jean and I met in college, when I was a junior and she was a freshman, we sang in the same church group, and discovered that we shared a birthday. We've been twins ever since. Although, I haven't seen her for a number of years, we are still close and keep in touch via birthday and other special occasion cards.
Here's her card.....

You can't read it very well, the tag and paper are from We R Memory Keepers - it says "friends are the flowers' in the garden of life".

I've also been working on getting some of my scrapbooking backlog completed, and did a couple of layouts from a trip to Colorado back in 2006

One of my goals as I'm working on this backlog is to add more journaling to my pages, I'm not really good at that, so I'll keep working on it.

I'm looking forward to my trip weekend after next, Napa and the Napa Valley Wine Train have been on my 'Bucket List' for quite awhile. I'm looking forward to it, and promise to post some pictures.

Have a good rest of the week, and until next time
